이 책은 구조방정식 모형을 활용하여 연구를 시작하려는 이들을 위해, 저자들이 그동안 읽어온 많은 자료들 중 꼭 필요하고 중요한 내용들을 중심으로 연구자의 관점에서 종합하여 정리한 것이다. 우리는 내용 연구자로서 연구방법론이나 통계학을 익히고, 적용하여 우리의 학문 분야를 발전시키기 위해 구조방정식 모형을 사용해왔다. 하지만 각자의 구조방정식 모형 연구의 경력은 동일하지 않으며 서로 간에 차이가 있다. 이러한 차이 덕분에 우리는 통계적 개념을 학습하며 겪는 어려움을 공감하고, 질문하고, 답변하는 과정을 거치며 최대한 쉽게 이 책을 집필하는 특별하고, 멋진 경험을 하였다. 저자들은 연구방법론 연구자와 내용 연구자 사이에서 가교 역할을 할 수 있는 세련된 내용 연구자로서 실제 연구에 도움이 되는 내용들을 최대한 효과적으로 전달하고자 하였다.

대구교육대학교를졸업하고,단국대학교대학원교육학과에서상담심리전공으로석사학위와박사학위를취득하였다.현재광주여자대학교상담심리학과교수로재직중이다.평소구조방정식모형을활용하여상담심리학관련횡단연구및종단연구결과를다양한학회지에출판하고있다.상담이론,심리통계,연구방법론을지속해서학부와대학원에서강의해왔다.
