외국에사는며느리들에게요리법을적어보낸편지를모아책으로엮은『며느리에게주는요리책』이1993년발간된이래20만부이상팔린베스트셀러가되었다.1997년에는영문판『AKoreanMother'sCookingNotes』를간행,주부요리전문가로국내외에이름을날리게되었다.현재미국캘리포니아프레몬트에거주하며한국요리강습과칼럼을통해한국의요리를널리소개하고있다.미주중앙일보에고정칼럼‘장선용의행복요리’를연재하고있다.
