조지훈

조지훈은본명은동탁,1920년경상북도영양군에서태어났다.한학자인할아버지와개화지식인아버지아래서줄곧한학을익히다가1938년혜화전문학교문과에입학,2학년때<문장>3월호에시「고풍의상」으로추천을받는다.그뒤「승무」,「봉황수」,「향문」등의작품으로‘자연과인공의극치’를이룩한시인이라는찬사를들으면서이듬해1940년2월,등단했다.1941년오대산월정사에서불교전문강원강사,1942년에조선어학회큰사전편찬위원,1946년에전국문필가협회와청년문학가협회에가입하여활동했다.만년에는고려대학교민족문화연구소초대소장으로한국문화사대계를기획하고추진했다.만성기관지염으로고생하다가1968년5월에생을마감했다.시집청록집풀잎단장조지훈시선『역사앞에서』『여운』을비롯하여『한국문화사서설』『신라가요연구논고』『한국민족운동사』등의문학이론서와수필집『돌의미학』『창에기대어』『시와인생』『지조론』이있다.

지식을만드는지식‘한국근현대시초판본100종’은점점사라져가는원본을재출간하겠다는기획의도에따라한국문학평론가협회에서작가100명을엄선하고각각의작가에대해권위를인정받은평론가들을엮은이로추천했다.엮은이는직접작품을선정하고원전을찾아냈으며해설과주석을덧붙였다.
각작품들은초판본을수정없이그대로타이핑해서실었다.초판본을구하지못한작품은원전에가장근접한것을사용했다.저본에실린표기를그대로살렸고,오기가분명한경우만바로잡았다.단,띄어쓰기는읽기편하게현대의표기법에맞춰고쳤다.

조지훈(1920∼1968)은1939년≪문장≫에<고풍의상(古風衣裳)>과<승무(僧舞)>가,1940년에<봉황수(鳳凰愁)>가정지용에의해추천됨으로써시단에등장했으며,≪청록집≫(1946),≪풀잎단장(斷章)≫(1962),≪조지훈시선≫(1956),≪역사앞에서≫(1959),≪여운(餘韻)≫(1964)등의시집혹은시선집을간행했다.또한그는시론집≪시의원리≫(1953)를비롯한문학론,수필집≪지조론≫(1962),≪돌의미학≫(1964)등의에세이,그리고≪한국문화사서설≫(1964)을비롯한한국학연구서를집필하는등다양한방면의활동을보여주었다.1968년조지훈이영면한이후시를포함한그의저술들을모아1973년에≪조지훈전집≫(전7권,일지사)이간행되었고,1996년에다시≪조지훈전집≫(전9권,나남출판)이간행되기에이른다.
시인이자지사적논객이며한국학의초석을닦은학자이기도했던조지훈의문학적·학문적업적은그동안수많은연구의대상이되어왔다.시인으로서의조지훈과그의시에대한연구에국한할때,선행연구들은조지훈이≪문장≫의추천을받기이전<지옥기>시편의세계,≪문장≫의추천을받을무렵<고풍의상>,<승무>로대표되는민족적전통에대한애착과애수의세계,선미(禪味)와관조에초점을둔서경시의세계,한만(閑漫)한동양적정서의세계,<풀잎단장>으로대표되는자연과인생에대한고요한서정의세계등다양한측면에서조지훈시의특성을규명해그전체적이해에기여했다.
본서는그중가장대표적인작품60수를골라발표시기에따라실었다.
