Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Korea’s Sovereignty over Dokdo

Description
This book examines Japan’s territorial claims and historical distortions concerning Dokdo from diverse perspectives, including international law, history, geography, international politics, and geopolitics. It explores the legal nature of Japan’s incorporation of Dokdo in 1905, Japan’s claims concerning the island’s name and “inherent territory,” as well as Joseon’s policies toward Ulleungdo, historical maps depicting Dokdo, postwar Japanese legislation, and perceptions of Korea’s Peace Line. By examining the historical and legal dimensions of the Dokdo issue from an interdisciplinary perspective, this book provides a scholarly foundation for understanding Korea’s sovereignty over Dokdo and contributes to broader discussions on a peaceful maritime order in Northeast Asia.
