Description
Reflections upon Morality
-
This book is intended to be a useful ethics textbook for undergraduate students majoring in science, engineering, and business. It raises questions about moral issues and answers them from philosophical and scientific perspectives. The topics in this book are carefully selected to suit students’ interests. Among the topics that I discussed in my ethics courses at the University of Maryland and UNIST, exciting ones made it to this book while boring ones did not.

Demonstration is the best way to foster students’ thinking power. In this spirit, I criticize eminent philosophers’ views on moral issues and sometimes defend alternatives to their views in this book. I do not expect that the readers of this book will be philosophy majors. For this reason, I made an effort to keep philosophical jargons to a minimum. When I had to use one, I defined it and offered an example to illustrate it.

There are study questions at the end of each chapter. They are intended to stimulate students to think for themselves about morality and to go beyond what I said in the book.
