Assumingthatthesenseofvictimizationorresentmentthatapersoncanovercomeis‘100’,thesenseofvictimizationorresentmenthasbeenaccumulatedandhardenedasaformofhan(恨,grudge)intheheartsofKoreanancestorsformanygenerationsandthehantakesupabout40to50outofthat100nominalvaluefromthetimetheywereborn.So,thesenseofvictimizationorresentmentKoreanscanovercomeisonlyabout50to60.It’smylogicthatevenwhenfacedwithasituationthatmayseeminsignificanttoathirdperson,itcausesresonancewiththeaccumulatedhanexceedingthelevelofself-restraint,resultingformanyKoreanstomakeanextremechoice.ThisisthereasonwhyKoreanshavethehighestsuiciderateamongOECDcountries,unlikepeoplefrompeninsularcountriessuchasTurkey,Spain,andItaly,whohaveexplosivesimilaremotionaltendencies.
ThekeyfactorsdrivingKorea’snationaleconomicdevelopmenttodayaretheleadershipofnationalleaders,environmental/socialconditions,andtheuniquecharacteristicsofKoreans(K-DNA).CharacteristicsofKoreans,suchasexcellentdevisingcapability,fluidityandperipheralcharacters,scholarlyspiritandpatriotism,sincerityanddiligence,spiritofpublicfirstandprivatesecond,democraticequality,passionforlearning,adaptabilitytoenvironmentalchanges,highsociability,andHongik-Ingan(humanitarianideal)contributetonationaleconomicdevelopment.Ibelievethatthesearetheuniquecharacteristics(K-DNA)ofKoreansthathaveledtoKorea’sprosperitytoday.
