Preface
While teaching Biblical Hebrew, I have met many students who, overwhelmed by the challenge of learning the original language, eventually gave up their dream of becoming expository preachers and Bible teachers who could work directly with the biblical text. Watching this happen time and again filled me with a deep sense of regret. That experience led me to gather the teaching materials I had developed into this volume.
It is my hope that this book????with its concise yet learner-friendly explanations, practice exercises that reinforce grammatical concepts, and essential vocabulary lists????will become a source of encouragement for students who feel intimidated by learning an ancient language. May it serve as a supportive companion that helps them persevere in their studies and equips them to grow into faithful interpreters of God’s Word.
The distinctive features of this book are as follows:
1.Recognizing that students can easily lose motivation, the book includes a variety of practical memory aids and study tips throughout to make learning more effective and enjoyable.
2.Many beginning students lose interest or discontinue their studies before ever reaching the verbal system. For that reason, this volume focuses first on the non-verbal aspects of Biblical Hebrew grammar, providing a solid foundation before introducing verbs.
3.Since many students abandon Hebrew because the workload feels overwhelming, each lesson has been intentionally kept short. By completing one manageable section at a time, learners can build confidence and experience a sense of accomplishment.
