힘겨운 걸음마다 시를 읽으며 위로받았고, 시를 쓰면 행복해서 쓰고 또 쓰다 보니 책이 되었습니다.
시인이란 그리 특별할 건 없지만, 일상에서 새로운 시각과 아름다움을 발견하는 사람이라 생각합니다.
시를 통해 독자들과 교감할 때 치유가 일어나고 잠자던 감성이 깨어난다면 이보다 더 풍성한 일은 없을 것입니다.
최근에 다녀온 국제 도서전에서 외국인들이 일본의 하이쿠는 잘 알고 있었지만 시조는 아무도 몰랐습니다. 하기야 한국인들도 시조를 모르고 관심이 없으니 당연한 일이겠지요.
한류의 영향으로 미국 여러 학교에서 시조를 가르치고 또 즐기는 영상을 보며 깊은 인상을 받았고, 하루라도 빨리 우리의 훌륭한 시조를 세계에 알리고 싶은 마음이 간절해졌습니다.
시조는 우리 민족의 혼과 정서가 천년의 그릇에 담겨 내려온, 지금 이 순간에도 살아 숨 쉬는 유산입니다. 이 고귀한 유산을 지켜야 할 의무를 떨칠 수 없어 시조를 지었고, 외국인들도 이해할 수 있도록 시조를 영문으로 번역하여 함께 담았습니다.

Sijo is a traditional Korean poem with a formal form similar to Japanese Haiku.
In other words, Sijo contains the essence of Korean spirit.
If someone wants to learn about Korean spirit and beauty, I strongly suggest to read Sijo. It will teach about the way of thinking and roots of Koreans, for Sijo has been around 1,000 years.
I am thinking that poetry is something that opens up new perspective to readers in everyday life. Therefore, a good poem helps readers find unique beauty in a daily life, because it interact with them.
This is why I wrote a collection of Sijo poetry.
These days, I am very excited to share my life with unknown readers through Sijo.
Also, looking forward to sharing my culture with everyone in the world, especially with people who love K-pop.
